What a gem in Modesto's McHenry Village. We come here for brunch. Their assortment of quiche is wonderful, and delicious, as is the coffee and tea. Josie, behind the counter listens. She is always pleasant and patience with each customer. Josie helped to make our experience at the Village Bakery a pleasant one.

Dragged my son over there just so we can stare at each other for 23 minutes until I finally caught someone’s attention and someone finally asked oh are you waiting for something? Actually yes, my sandwich that I ordered 25 minutes ago. They started making it after I said something but no..that just put a bad taste in my mouth. I ordered 20 dollars worth of cupcakes too and would’ve cancelled those if I could’ve. Maria the manager was nice but wasn’t helpful just kept apologizing. Like okay for it you’re sorry you cheated my order and let me sit there watching everyone else eat while I wait. Been coming here since I was a kid and that’s never happened. Last time they forgot my mother in laws coffee and we almost walked out without it. Guess it’s just kinda going downhill and they’re trying to make their money however they can. By “forgetting” things for the customer. I give one star on the food cuz I didn’t eat any of it.

The creme brulee, the #1 and #4 was so good. The sandwhiches are so big and come with a cookie ?. The service was fast and the staff is so nice and I love the cafe feel.

First off, let me start by saying that the location of this place is absolutely fantastic. Nestled in the heart of our beloved village, it's the perfect spot to unwind and enjoy some delicious treats. ?

But what truly made my visit memorable was the incredible Jessie, who greeted me with the warmest smile and made me feel right at home. Her genuine hospitality instantly brightened my day! ?

Now, let's talk about the food and drinks. Oh my goodness, where do I even begin? The coffee here is top-notch, and the fact that they offer four refills is a game-changer! ☕️ I mean, who doesn't love a place that keeps your caffeine fix going strong?

And let's not forget about the cakes and pastries. They are simply divine! Each bite was a burst of flavors that left me craving for more. Trust me, you won't be disappointed!

However, I must share a rather amusing incident that happened during my visit. As I was enjoying my time, savoring the last few moments before closing, I noticed a lady starting to slam the chairs in front of me. It was like a subtle hint, a gentle nudge to remind everyone that it was time to bid adieu to the village. ?

Curiosity got the better of me, so I mustered up the courage to ask her the closing time. To my surprise, she replied, "5:30 pm," while it was 4:59 pm! Talk about being punctual! ⏰

But hey, I guess it's a testament to their commitment to closing on time. So, if you plan on visiting, make sure to keep an eye on the clock and savor every last sip and bite before the village bids you farewell for the day! ?

The order taker interrupted me as I was ordering to tell me that the kitchen was closed..I pointed out to her that my order is not from the kitchen..She said, "But you were looking at the menu." I said, "Yes I was ordering quiche which is not a kitchen item." Then she asked me what I wanted..I told her that I was trying to tell what I wanted when she interrupted me..Then she had me pay prior to my receiving the food. She walked away before I was done running my card. She did not give me my receipt..I had to ask another server to bring me my receipt. The food was good but it did not make up for the negative attitude from the server. This is by far not the first time that I have run into this attitude from the servers at this bakery. It is obvious that there is some kind of morale problem at this place that is being communicated to customers in various ways. I would recommend this place for take out bakery orders only but not for dining in..The attitudes are much too toxic for dining in.

I highly recommend getting their canoli's, mini cheesecakes, or the cookies. The cupcakes were just regular cupcakes, nothing out of this world, though. We weren't really a fan of the raspberry or salted caramel macaroons. They weren't worth the price.
