The trail is rocky, with some sections that can be slippery due to loose gravel and the arid Colorado climate. Be sure to wear sturdy shoes to protect your toes and ankles—they’ll make a big difference and let you focus on the experience rather than your footing. The air feels crisp, and the lake's water is remarkably clear—any spot near the shore invites a deep sense of calm, almost like entering a meditative state where all worries dissolve, and you feel one with nature. Even the breeze brushing your face has a wild, untamed quality to it. A few hikers, as well as skiers and snowboarders, were out on the trail, enjoying the scenery. Parking costs range from $10 to $20, depending on how close you’d like to be. The lot I used was spacious, and the portable restrooms were impressively clean—a solid A grade for convenience. All in all, a hike here leaves you with more than just good memories—it’s an experience to savor.

You can go swimming and cliff diving on the lake during the summers. The water is INSANELY cold so it’s a great place to do a natural cold plunge if you’re into that kinda thing ?️☺️

The trail is short but on busy days, parking is scarce and you might have to park faaaar down the road towards the private lake below.

The area is pet-friendly and child-friendly as well. There are portable toilets in the parking area.

This is a beautiful gem of colorado! A place to go very close to the city, the trail from the bathroom up to the glacier is somewhat difficult because is kind of steep and very rocky, but is very short and well worth it! The sights are amazing and the energy of the place is great! We take a hammock and sleep for 1 to 2 hours in the sun! Walk barefoot and put our feet in the lake! Very nice experience!

Great, short hike for pretty much everyone. It is a bit rocky most of the way up.

Absolutely gorgeous hike up the rocky trail. The rocks are beautiful. The lake is small, but fun to stare at. The weather gets a little windy and rainy in the mountains during summer. But it’s better than super hot and unmanageable. This place is perfect for getting away from the heat and hanging out in the snow. We hiked on August 11, 2024 and it rained. We witnessed the skier hike up and ski down the glacier. All around great time.

My favorite thing we’ve done on our Colorado summer vacation so far! Parking was $10 near the trailhead and there were multiple parking lots. The hike is listed as easy to moderate, but it’s very rocky and fairly steep for most of it, so the grandparents and those of us carrying small children in our group did need to stop and rest on the way up. Just take your time and you’ll be fine. The views were 100% worth it! Definitely dress in layers as we got warm hiking on the way up and it got chilly at the glacier. We had fun at the glacier playing in some snow in the summer and watching the skiers and snowboarders come down.
