My Mama got my birthday cake from here and it was so very delicious. Everyone said it was so good and asked where it was from. I also love the ginormous donuts from here!!! The guys at my work always ask where I got such huge donuts from. Lol.
I wanna try the peach cobbler pie, I've heard its delicious!! ?

I've not been here in over a decade, and it's my understanding that ownership has changed. I must say the inside was much cleaner than I remember and not at all cluttered. The woman who helped us was friendly and ready to fulfill our order. We picked out a few delicious desserts. It was difficult to choose just a few because everything looked so scrumptious! The tarte was phenomenal and the fruit on top was fresh. Kiddo really liked the huge cherry marzipan cookie. The Napolian was enormous weighing in at over 1 pound! Never have I ever had a piece this large.. I had to laugh! Let me tell you, it was absolutely delicious. We'll definitely return in 2 weeks when our family is in town.

What a great selection of sweet treats (tortes, pastries & donuts). They also carry freshly baked breads, rolls and buns. The carrot cake is the best I’ve ever tasted. The cream cheese icing is not overly sweet and the cake itself is dense and delicious. The staff is gracious and the owner introduces herself and shakes your hand. Old fashioned service is not dead!!
…. It’s now seven months later and a number of carrot cakes consumed since my original posting and their carrot cake is still out of this world delicious!

A MUST if you're in the area! Great pastries made with love and a very close taste to NY ones. Lots of free parking, lots of seats inside, and way too many delicious choices!
Come often and try everything, it's all great so no wrong choices!

I stopped by to pick up pastries as I was in the area. Last time I was there was 2 years ago and realized it’s a new owner. I bought lemon bars which tasted old only took one bite and had to spit it out and another family member did the same thing it also smelled old. The other individual cakes I bought were horrible and stale. They cannolis were horrible and tasted like pure cinnamon and cannolis do not have cinnamon in them. These are not the pastries that the old owners sold. I was very disappointed and wasted $40.
The whole box of sweets was bad and my whole family who tried them all had the same reaction. The pastries were stale and old tasting where you could help but spit it out.

This bakery reminds me of the type that I had growing up in Pittsburgh. They have so many fresh items it’s hard to select. I usually buy several items especially since it’s a distance away.
My favorite are the cream horns that other places don’t offer and if they do they are not filled with cream like NYW but marshmallow.
They also offer a great cheesecake that is fluffy and not heavy. I discovered on this trip that I can call ahead of time if I want a fruit topping. They also have a cheesecake cupcake version which makes it easy for me to buy other favorite pastry and still have cheesecake. I bought a cheesecake cupcake but still purchased a pineapple upside down cake, how many places offer it?
There are so many cookies to choose from but I selected the rugula.

I understand that the bakery is under new ownership and I took a chance to see how their cakes look. I ended up ordering my mother a strawberry shortcake birthday cake. It was made fresh on Sunday morning, just for me. I also asked for extra strawberries because I wanted to make it special.
I came to get the cake at noon on Sunday. It looked terrific and tasted even better.
Excellent job!!! Super delicious! Pricey $70 for a cake that fed 15 people. But I highly recommend ordering for a special occasion.

I honestly wish I could give negative stars instead of a one star review.

I placed an order at New York West Pastry & Bake Shop for an 8-inch red velvet cake with white cream cheese frosting, no decorations, meant for my wedding on October 8th. I was explicit during my Saturday, October 5th phone order that the cake needed to be ready any time before noon and was assured there would be no issues.

Upon arriving at 10:45 am on the 8th, the cake wasn’t ready. I was told it would be another 20 minutes. Due to my wedding preparations, I left, and my grandmother attempted to pick it up at 11:30 am, believing it would surely be ready. Shockingly, the cake was still not done.

At one point during this ordeal, I received a phone call from the bakery in which a gentleman informed me they were unsure who had ordered the cake and insisted that I must have ordered it incorrectly, claiming it was set for pickup after noon. This was entirely untrue, as I had multiple people with me when placing the order who can confirm I clearly requested a pickup before noon. It was incredibly frustrating to have my instructions questioned and misrepresented, especially when I had taken every step to ensure everything was communicated correctly for such an important event.

My grandmother returned an hour later at 12:30 pm, only to be informed the cake still wasn’t ready. Astonishingly, the staff mentioned they had fired the baker and offered a refund, but we desperately needed the cake, not the refund, considering it was for a wedding. They assured us it would be ready in another 30 minutes.

Finally, at 1:30 pm, she picked up the cake, which was disappointingly a 6-inch instead of the 8-inch we ordered. The cake was poorly decorated, contrary to our request for no decorations, and tasted like mint toothpaste, resulting in it being largely untouched at the wedding.

When I called to convey my discontent, not only was I met with excuses, I was also told: "God bless you because Karma will get you, come get your refund." Additionally, I learned they stopped offering wedding cakes due to frequent customer dissatisfaction. Despite their refund refusal when we didn’t accept it on Tuesday, they surprisingly requested my card info again if I wanted it refunded on the card, which I chose to avoid by opting for cash.

This debacle was exceedingly stressful for what was meant to be a joyous occasion. The lack of professionalism and poor service was shocking. We will never return to New York West Pastry & Bake Shop and caution others against ordering from them.
